No, It's Not a Scam. It's Just Our First Time Bringing a Product to Market.

Hello, Songbird Family!

Earlier this week, I received an email from a customer asking whether the Ultimate Hamper was a scam.

My response was simple: "I can assure you this is not a scam. It's just our first time bringing a product to market. We've been working incredibly hard to bring this product to life, and along the way, we've encountered more unexpected twists, turns, and learning experiences than we ever imagined."

Today, I wanted to share that same message with all of you.

I know this has been a long time coming, and I owe you an honest update. Unfortunately, we've encountered yet another manufacturing setback. Our current factory's large injection molding machine recently broke down, and they're still working to repair it. On top of that, we've faced scheduling delays, key personnel taking vacations, peak-season production demands, and competing priorities at the factory. We've tried to strike a balance between being persistent and being patient, but ultimately, we've come to realize that our project simply isn't receiving the priority it needs.

So we've been exploring other options. After reaching out to hundreds of manufacturers, we've identified a promising factory that may be able to accommodate the size and complexity of our tooling. We're hopeful, although we're currently waiting for a key manager to return from vacation before we can move forward.

To be clear, the remaining obstacle involves only the mold for the large plastic hamper bin. Every other component—the smaller plastic parts, aluminum pieces, fasteners, and even the packaging—is ready to go! We genuinely believed we'd be in production by now. Instead, we've encountered a series of unforeseen setbacks that have been frustrating and disheartening, to say the least.

And for that, I am truly sorry.

You placed your trust in us when you preordered the Ultimate Hamper. You didn't sign up for this extraordinarily long wait, and we certainly never anticipated it. I understand your frustration, and I don't take your patience or support for granted. But please know this: Our enthusiasm for the Ultimate Hamper hasn't diminished, and neither has our commitment to delivering the product you believed in from the very beginning. We still believe in what we're building, and we're not giving up.

A Little More of Our Story

Some of you may remember that our family lost our home in the devastating Eaton Fire in Los Angeles in January 2025. That experience brought its own heartbreak and challenges, and it certainly added another layer of difficulty to building this business. But strangely enough, it also strengthened our resolve to persevere. As they say, life is what happens while you're busy making other plans.

By God's grace, we've learned a great deal about endurance, patience, and holding on to hope when circumstances seem determined to test it. And today, I'm happy to share a little good news: Our new home is finally being framed!

And here's something especially exciting: The home we're rebuilding will also become Songbird's new headquarters! We've always envisioned our home as a place where family, creativity, and meaningful work come together. We plan to use its beautiful spaces for product photography, lifestyle shoots, and all kinds of creative content for our website and social media. In a very real sense, we're not just rebuilding a home. We're building a home for Songbird, too!

There's something incredibly fitting about the fact that Songbird's story is unfolding alongside our family's journey of rebuilding. Both have required more patience, perseverance, and faith than we ever expected. Both are still works in progress. And both are ultimately about creating something beautiful out of the ashes of tremendous challenges. What began as two separate dreams—a home for our family and a business born from an idea—has somehow become one beautiful, intertwined story.

As you can see in the photo below, things are looking up—and so am I! :) Through it all, we've come to believe that one day, both our home and this little business we've poured our hearts into will be fully built. And when that day comes, I can't wait to share with you not only the Ultimate Hamper, but also the home where so much of Songbird's future will take shape.

Whatever challenges life may be throwing your way, I hope you'll find the strength to keep going and the courage to hold on to hope. Even after the darkest night, a new day always comes. And hopefully, one of those new days will bring a brand-new Ultimate Hamper to your doorstep!

Hello Songbird Family,

While our factory continues working through the remaining issues with the mold for the hamper bin, we’ve also been working closely with our packaging supplier to finalize the box design and begin printing.

We’re excited to share that all of the boxes have now been produced and printed and are ready to be packed with the Ultimate Hamper! They look great, and it’s exciting to see another major piece of the process completed.

At this time, we’re waiting for additional updates from the manufacturing team as they address the issues identified during our quality assurance process for the large bin. This remains the biggest hurdle we need to overcome before we can move into full production and shipping.

As we’ve shared previously, these manufacturing challenges were completely unforeseen and have resulted in a much longer delay than we ever anticipated or wanted. We are incredibly grateful for your continued patience and understanding as we work carefully through each issue and move closer to production.

Hello Songbird Family,

What has already been a long journey has become a bit more complicated due to an unexpected manufacturing issue.

All of our steel molds were produced in China. Before shipping them to our U.S. factories, we reviewed multiple sample shots and completed a rigorous quality assurance process to ensure that every plastic component met our standards. After several rounds of refinements and multiple international shipments, the molds were finalized and sent to our manufacturing facility in Wisconsin.

Once the molds were installed, the sample shots for all of the smaller plastic components came out perfectly. However, the larger plastic bin presented several technical issues that required further attention.

As shown in the images, the primary issues have now been identified, and our tooling partner in China has provided additional specifications to correct them. We are currently waiting for our Wisconsin factory to coordinate with a local tooling shop to ensure that the finished bin fully aligns with our original design and quality standards.

We sincerely apologize for this unexpected delay. This is the last major hurdle before we can move into full production, and we will continue to keep you updated as the situation progresses.

Hello Songbird Family,

We are excited to share that we have finalized our packaging design and are pleased to announce that the Ultimate Hamper will ship fully assembled.

Thanks to our 3PL partner, who specializes in large and bulky items, we were able to secure pricing for a larger box at only a modest increase compared to the smaller box originally planned for the unassembled hamper. This means your experience receiving and unboxing the Ultimate Hamper will be much easier, smoother, and more enjoyable.

We also have another exciting production update. After completing some required modifications to the factory press, the mold for the large bin has now been mounted, and we have produced the first sample shots of the Ultimate Hamper at our U.S. factory.

Moving the 16,000-pound steel mold required a specialized crane, and we are grateful that the process went smoothly and seamlessly. The next step is to thoroughly clean all of the tooling. As you can see, the first test shots have some staining, but once the tooling is fully cleaned, we will begin our first manufacturing run. That run will include the full assembly of all smaller plastic components and aluminum parts.

This is such an exciting milestone for us, and we are grateful to have you along for the journey. We will continue to keep you updated as we move closer to production and shipping.
